As much as I would like for there to be a pause button on life, time continues to progress, always in a forward direction. As beautiful as the butterfly is, the caterpillar cannot halt the progression into a chrysalis. The chrysalis transforms into a butterfly. Metamorphosis occurs without permission. The butterfly is what it is.
Time moves on, indifferent to our requests. With each tick of the clock, the past slips further away. We do our best to muster courage in the face of the future. Through this journey, we acquire wisdom and develop resilience (when we are open to them). And ultimately, or so I hope, we attain peace by embracing the inevitable. But for now, the struggle is real. And oftentimes I wish there were a pause button.
